2009 Dakar ~ A Historic race!

Today was an historic day for The Dakar Rally in it’s first year in Argentina-Chile.  It is a proud day in American Racing History. There are 2 Americans on the podium, Mark Miller and Robby Gordon.  Giniel De Villiers has won The Dakar.

2009 Dakar Rally ~ Correction

That’s why I say stay tuned for the “Official results”
Robby actually placed third with a time of  2′16″ behind the real winner of the stage Carlos Sainz.  Miller placed 2nd with  Terranove behind him and DeVillers placing 5th.
 Gordon remains fifth overall, trailing Sainz by 1 hour, 34 minutes and 17 seconds.

2009 Dakar Stage 7~Update Robby Gordon~5th Overall

 

With a great day behind him Robby Gordon placed 3rd in today’s Stage 7,4 minites and 13 seconds behind the Veedubs, placing him 5th overall. 
Saintz (VW) took 1st with Miller (VW) behind him by 2″41. Roma (Mitsubishi) followed at 5″37 and De Villiers (VW) behind him at 7″48′.

Unofficially, Dakar.com tracking shows Carlos Saintz (VW), Nasser Al-Attiyah (BMW), respectively, with 53 seconds between them at KM 419. Having not crossed 419 yet, at KM 368  Robby Gordon and Andy Grider were running 6 minutes and 19 seconds behind Saintz.
