This can be an excellent time, but you must watch out for some pitfalls that could undo all the benefits. Basically this influence is a test of your discipline and self-restraint. If you are not a restrained person, you will react to this influence by going overboard in some way, overextending yourself or living in a fool’s paradise where you think nothing can go wrong. Or you might squander a valuable resource, only to find on another day that you do not have enough of what you need. Sometimes there is a feeling that luck will provide everything that you need without any effort on your part, but this, too, is a false notion.

But this time can also provide a chance for real growth and expanded opportunities. It is a matter of how much control you have over yourself. I have taken a look at my ‘scope today, as I always do, and I am so happy it is so good. It’s about friggin’ time. I have several other rituals I do on my birthday every year. I read back over my journals, I do a couple of readings, and I take an IQ test to see if my score is staying about the same. I am somewhat concerned about it this year.

NASCAR ~ Michael McDowell announces New Ride with JTG Daugherty Racing

Press Release:

MOORESVILLE, NC (January 29, 2009) – NASCAR driver Michael McDowell announced today that he has signed with JTG Daugherty Racing to race the #47 Toyota Camry entry in the 2009 NASCAR Nationwide Series. The #47 team, owned by Tad and Jodi Geschickter and Brad Daugherty, a former NBA all-star and current ESPN commentator, is scheduled to compete at the season opener at Daytona on February 14 and the next 15 races. The remaining races on the schedule are dependent upon sponsorship support. 

“I know that I’m climbing into a competitive program based on JTG’s on-track performance,” said McDowell, a 24-year-old native of Phoenix, Ariz. “Tad has a great reputation in the garage and has done an excellent job delivering a return to his sponsors.”

McDowell brings NASCAR Sprint Cup experience to JTG Daugherty, earning six Rookie of the Race honors in 20 starts during the 2008 season. The 2007 ARCA RE/MAX Series Rookie of the Year quickly rose through the NASCAR ranks after getting his start in open-wheel racing, which included the 2004 Star Mazda Series championship and a stint on the now-defunct Champ Car World Series. McDowell last raced in the Nationwide Series in 2007 with Michael Waltrip Racing.

Joining McDowell at JTG Daugherty is new Crew Chief Gene Nead, who previously was responsible for research and development at TRD-supported Bill Davis Racing. Nead brings significant experience to the #47 team, having won 17 races across NASCAR’s three national series since 1992, including a Truck series championship.

Co-owner Tad Geschickter added, “We are happy to add Michael to the JTG Daugherty family. He is a promising young driver with a world of talent and we look forward to him consistently running up front. I am convinced that he will be a big part of our future success.”

On the other hand, this influence also confers real courage. During this period you feel good and project warm positive energies out into the world. This in turn affects your relationships very positively and enables you to encounter people who can be good for you precisely because you are good for them. In all personal and professional transactions with others you will give and receive in equal measure.

Personal relationships expand under this influence. If you have been living in a relatively small circle of friends and acquaintances, you will expand your circle and meet people whom you wouldn’t ordinarily, possibly including the rich and famous or people in power. Just be careful that you don’t become involved with these people for superficial reasons; make sure that you can grow through them. The fact that a person is socially significant may not have any relevance to your relationship.

The basis for all this is that in a very real sense you are growing and taking more and more of the outer world into your personal sphere. Jimmie Johnson ~ Bad Luck Starting Already?

I told you that Jimmie Johnson ‘scope has him heading out of the good “nothing in the world can go wrong” aspects into some “nothing can go right” aspects.

Has it started already?

DAYTONA BEACH, FLORIDA (TICKER) —Three-time reigning Sprint Cup Champion Jimmie Johnson on Monday had surgery to repair a tendon and nerve after cutting his left middle finger with a kitchen knife. 

The injury, which occurred on Sunday, will not keep him from racing in the season-opening Daytona 500 on February 7.

Preparing for the final segment of the Rolex 24 sports-car series race, Johnson was cut above the knuckle when he attempted to cut a small hole in his firesuit in order to feed a tube from a cooling shirt through the pocket.

Johnson did not race in the final stint. Instead, he flew to Charlotte for further evaluation and outpatient treatment with a hand specialist at Carolinas Medical Center.

Last November, Johnson became just the second driver in Cup Series history to win three consecutive titles. He tied Cale Yarborough, who won his titles from 1975-78.

Hmmm.

Robby Gordon was flawless in today’s Score Laughlin Desert Challenge! Dominated the field. He put that hammer down and kicked butt! Slid sideways right through the Checkered Flag! 

B.J. Balwin is attempting as we speak, to finish the race backwards! Such determination. No DNF for B.J. if it’s up to him. Hope he makes it cross the finish under the time limit.

LAUGHLIN, Nev. –Veteran desert racer Larry Roeseler lit up the Laughlin night, setting an event record in winning Thursday’s SCORE Laughlin Leap competition, a prelude to this weekend’s season-opening 15th Annual SCORE Laughlin Desert Challenge in Laughlin, Nev. 

Winner of two straight SCORE desert races to end the 2008 SCORE season with Norman Motorsports teammate Roger Norman, Roeseler thrilled the standing-room only crowd of nearly 5,000, winning the SCORE Trophy-Truck truck division by sending his powerful No. 88 Ford F-150 SCORE Trophy-Truck off the six-foot dirt jump for an event record distance of 161 feet, 6 inches. Roeseler backed up his record leap with an identical 161’ 6”. 

Roeseler eclipsed the event record of 160’ 6” set in 2004 by Mark Post, Laguna Beach, Calif. in another Ford F-150 SCORE Trophy-Truck. 

It was Roeseler’s second overall win (1999 in SCORE Trophy-Truck) in the event and his fifth division win. He also won the SCORE Laughlin Leap in the small trucks division in 1998 and 2006 and the unlimited Class 1 in 2007. 

Second in the SCORE Trophy-Truck division was Travis Coyne, El Centro, Calif., who pushed his No. 5 Coyne Motorsports Ford F-150 to a leap of 154’. 

In the unlimited Class 1 division for open-wheel desert race cars, James Scott, Hemet, Calif., recorded a long jump of 156’ in his RPS-Chevy to outdistance runner-up Richard Boyle, Ridgecrest, Calif., who went 154’ in his Jimco-Chevy. 

Class 1-2/1600 racers Justin Smith, Capistrano Beach, Calif., in a Fraley-VW and Cody Robinson, El Centro, Calif., in a Jimco-VW had leaps of 101’ 6” and 96’ 6” respectively. 

In the Production Trucks division, Chris Taylor, El Centro, Calif., won his group for the third straight year with his best jump ever of 126’ 6” in a Ford Ranger. 

In the Restricted Cars, the winner was Justin Davis, Chino Hills, Calif., whose winning jump was 113’ 6” in a Wicked-VW SCORE Lite race car.

The basic effect of this influence is to greatly increase your sensitivity to the world around you. This is one of the psychic influences, in that it stimulates your latent psychic abilities and makes them the vehicle for much input from the outer world. The problem, however, is that at first your conscious mind does not know what to do with this material, so you become confused or misinterpret the information from the unconscious. This happens especially when the conscious mind receives feelings that cannot be easily reduced to rational considerations.

With this influence there is the danger of being confused by your emotions, believing that you feel one way when your real feelings are quite different. This is particularly difficult in a love relationship in which you are romantically fascinated by someone who is completely inappropriate for you.

You may also be so fascinated by an idea or an ideal that you can no longer clearly see the world around you. You should be very cautious about taking up any idea or belief that seems strangely obsessive and fascinating now. Such ideas are significant and important, but they may not mean what you think they mean.

Sometimes you will be very reluctant to deal with the real world under this influence, because its illusions are rather alluring. With this influence it is very difficult to know exactly which direction the trends in your life are taking. Thus you must be extremely careful in your guesses, because of the danger of misjudgment.

Decisions in general are difficult during this time because you are caught in a conflict between caution and optimism. Whenever one attitude gets the upper hand in your mind, the other comes along and undermines it. Often it seems very difficult to know whether to expand or retrench. This problem will be especially bad if you have overextended yourself in the past and had to cut back. This creates a lack of self- confidence, which may surface now.

You may also experience a conflict at this time between the desire for greater freedom and opportunity and the desire to hold on to the safe and predictable circumstances that you are used to. Often the temptation is to break away from everything and start over without the weight of the past holding you back, so you think. The restlessness resulting from this conflict can cause you to make many significant changes in your life, especially about your career. Relationships are also frequently difficult, especially those that involve much responsibility. Casual relationships and friendships are less likely to suffer.

However, if you are basically satisfied with your life and you don’t feel that your duties and obligations are onerous, you should experience the positive side of this influence, which is actually quite considerable. This is a time when you can expand the structures in your life to include much more than ever before. For example, you could safely expand a business, because your cautiousness during this time will probably prevent you from overextending yourself. Or you could take on more responsibilities, which would make your work more satisfying.

Neptune opposition Venus: Obscure problems

During this time, love relationships, especially, may cause problems because either you or your partner has an unrealistic attitude about the relationship. Disillusionment and disappointment are the likely result when the romantic cloud lifts and the truth about the relationship becomes clear. All of us idealize a new lover to a certain extent, for that is part of the normal process of falling in love. But this influence indicates that the problem can be much more severe because of your unwillingness to accept reality as it is. You are inclined to look for partners and relationships that can help you escape from the humdrum, everyday world into a magical world of fantasy and beautiful illusions. But unfortunately you must pick your partner from the human race, and the people who can truly fulfill this kind of dream are extremely rare. So you create a beautiful image in your imagination and pretend that a specific person fits the image. And you are likely to persist, even though everyone can see, even you if you open your eyes, that your loved one is not what you fantasize. This influence can create other kinds of relationship difficulties as well, such as obscure problems within an existing relationship. For example, you may find it difficult to communicate with your partner, or one of you may do something behind the other’s back, thus undermining your mutual confidence.

The most useful effect of this influence is that it stimulates the creative imagination. In fact, every illusion or delusion is really only a misuse of creative imagination or a confusion of imagination with truth. If you can keep truth and imagination separate you will derive great benefit from this period, especially if you are intrinsically creative. Artistic creativity is heightened by this influence, and even your relationships can be more interesting, if you don’t lose sight of their real nature.

Uranus opposition Sun: Security vs. freedom

End of March 2009 until end of February 2010:

During this time you should look for sudden changes in your environment that challenge your expression as an individual and force you to take a stand about what you really are. A sudden challenge in the outer world may force you to take more responsibility for your life. Typical effects of this influence would include sudden events concerning men or your superiors or employers; unexpected circumstances that force you to change your course of action; sudden changes in a relationship, especially if you have not allowed self-expression for yourself or your partner; and sudden changes in health, involving your heart and circulatory system especially.

By this time you have built up a lifestyle that you consider valid and practically realizable. Most adults by now have given up certain ideals and goals as impossible. You have probably surrendered large parts of yourself as an accommodation with reality. The suppressed energies from this source lie behind the manifestation of this influence. It demands that hidden pressures be released, but you will probably feel that these events are happening to you rather than that you are doing them. What is happening is the passing away of something that has prevented you from being free. The trouble is that most people come to value security and predictability over freedom of self-expression. Consequently this influence is frequently upsetting.

This is a time of balance and equilibrium in your life, when all your affairs seem to run smoothly and without much effort on your part. It is a time when you can relax and take it easy for a while, knowing that your life is in good working order. This is also a time when growth seems to occur without much effort – growth in consciousness, in your profession, in your social life or wherever you feel that personal growth is important.

But this is not really a time when you should just enjoy yourself. You should do that, to be sure, but you should also be examining your life to see what needs to be done. It is important to think this way now because the equilibrium that is characteristic of this period enables you to look about yourself with reasonable calm and detachment. It is much harder to achieve a perspective when you are in the middle of some major and possibly chaotic change.

This is a good time to achieve perspective in all possible senses of the word. It is a good time for education, either formal or informal, for getting in touch with yourself through self-awareness studies, or for seeing the larger world through travel.

Business transactions or negotiations are also favored now, and this is a good time to expand your business, as long as it is within reason. Legal affairs also usually run quite smoothly.

End of April 2009 until end of December 2009:

This is an extremely positive time. You feel emotionally secure and in touch with your feelings, which you can express clearly and honestly, both to yourself and to others. At the same time you have an enormous feeling of generosity, which enables you to give to others much more freely than usual without feeling diminished in any way. This influence relates to the nurturing function within you, the desire to protect and care for as well as the desire to be supported. You can nurture another at this time, or if you need help yourself, you will get it.

Your home and personal life are very important to you during this time, and you will work to make this area as positive as possible. You may simply make your home more comfortable and elegant, or on a more psychological level you may bring friends and neighbors to your home in order to make them feel good, as well as yourself.

At this time you will realize how your past has positively contributed to your present situation, and you will want to be surrounded by things that remind you of your past. This is a good time to go home and see old friends and loved ones.

Regardless of your own sex, you may receive some benefit from a woman who offers to help or care for you in some way. Often her function in your life will be to reveal to you what is within and to make you more self-sufficient. This person could even be a man, but he would affect you in a maternal way.

About the only negative side of this influence comes from its symbolic connection with nutrition and digestion. Psychologically, you are in a period of incorporation and assimilation, of taking into yourself whatever can nourish and support you. Obviously the physical correlate of this is gaining weight, which can happen if you are not careful. Fatty foods are especially difficult, so try to avoid them.

Under this influence you are likely to feel quite good, with enough confidence to handle just about anything. It is a period in your life when you feel optimistic and as though you can do whatever you want. However, you may be somewhat overconfident, so be careful not to take on more than you can handle.

At this point, several time-consuming projects may be coming to a head at once. This could be either quite advantageous or quite difficult, depending upon how well you have estimated your capacities in the past. What is happening now may be more than you can deal with, so you may have to cut back a bit.

This can also be a time of restlessness, for you feel that your everyday world is simply not “big” enough or does not provide enough experience for you. If you feel this way, you need to enlarge your scope of activity somewhat, but again be careful not to overreach.

You may have given others the impression that you are overambitious or that you want too much (in their terms, at least), and they may try to prevent you from getting any further. This can be and usually is a very positive time. But you can make more or less out of it, depending upon how you handle it. In most ways it represents a period of culmination in your life, and you will be tempted to expand beyond any reasonable limit. There is no question that you have a good chance for success in any one of a number of endeavors at this time and, within reason, you should pursue them. However, you should not restrict yourself solely to material and physical growth now. Even if you don’t have all the material goods that you want, you should turn your attention to spiritual and inner needs. Ultimately, nothing satisfies like satisfaction. Objects that you acquire, possessions, money, and even social prestige are merely devices to make you feel that you have satisfaction. They are not the state of satisfaction itself. It is your inner difficulties that make your life less than it could be, even if you have corresponding problems in the material world. You must look for the solutions within yourself, and this time represents a turning point, where you should begin to look for the answers.

Under this influence, the tendency is to go after everything that you want in the material world without caring especially about whoever is in your way, to gather as much stuff as you can and indulge yourself in what you want. Then, as the influence subsides, you may feel that this effort has failed, leaving your life as empty as it was before.

Do not be arrogant toward others or assume that you have everything right. Through meaningful encounters with others, especially intimate one-to-one encounters, you can find out which way you should go at this time. Work with another person and think in terms of mutual growth. By trying to achieve goals set by both of you and by trying to be a twosome, you each will become more conscious of what you are as an individual. If you can recognize the real meaning of this influence in terms of your own life, this can be an extremely productive and growth-oriented time, a period that will always have meaning for you.

2009 Dakar ~ A Historic race!

Today was an historic day for The Dakar Rally in it’s first year in Argentina-Chile.  It is a proud day in American Racing History. There are 2 Americans on the podium, Mark Miller and Robby Gordon.  Giniel De Villiers has won The Dakar.

Update: Cordoba to Buenos Aires

Buenos Aires, Argentina (January 17, 2009) - The 31st Dakar Rally concluded today, and Team Dakar USA’s dual effort throughout the 13-stage race was truly spectacular. Even though neither the No. 309 Monster Energy Toyo Tires Hummer nor the No. 324 Vanguard Hummer won the Dakar Rally, having both race vehicles finish inside the top-15 in the world’s most grueling race is a victory in itself.  

After winning today’s 227-km stage, Giniel De Villiers also went on to win his first ever Dakar Rally title, while Mark Miller, a fellow American competitor, finished second. Team Dakar USA’s Robby Gordon pulled off an impressive third place finish, trailing by only 1 hour, 46 minutes. The finish was good enough to earn him a podium finish and his highest in his five Dakar Rally attempts. Also notable was the performance of Gordon’s teammate, Eric Vigouroux, who had a remarkable 13th-place overall finish. 

“Team Dakar USA did what we had to do today – we raced conservative enough to preserve our overall position at the end. All we needed to do today was run a smart, cautious race and cross the finish line at the end. I think that I ended up 23rd, and Eric was 37th, which ensured that both race vehicles finished safely inside the top-15,” commented Robby Gordon on today’s 227-km stage from Cordoba to Buenos Aires. 

“We may not be the overall winner in this year’s Dakar Rally, but I can tell you that we are our own winners. What we did here this year is really amazing. Not only is this my highest finish in a Dakar Rally, but Eric Vigouroux finished 13th in a Hummer that he had virtually no seat time in before the race commenced. This is a testament to the Team Dakar USA program; the more we race the better we get,” exclaimed Gordon on Team Dakar USA’s performance in the 31st-annual Dakar Rally. more…

2009 Dakar Rally-Team Dakar USA Stage 13 Update: La Rioja to Cordoba

Cordoba, Argentina (January 16, 2009) – The stage 13 route was changed today due to heavy rain that made many areas along the course impassable through the La Rioja and Cordoba regions. The 13th stage began at CP4, but only consisted of 220 km rather than the scheduled 545 km.

Around kilometer four, Robby Gordon passed Giniel De Villiers and Mark Miller for the race lead. However, he was not able to maintain this position for very long. Early in the stage, the No. 309 Monster Energy Toyo Tires Hummer was forced to pull over due to a problem with the throttle. After thoroughly evaluating the issue, Gordon found that a small rock was the culprit of the hanging throttle. Even after being down for 20 minutes, he was able to salvage a 16th-place finish, ending the stage only 22 minutes, 49 seconds behind Nani Roma. The Monster Energy Hummer still sits third in the overall standings, only 1 hour, 27 minutes behind De Villiers.

Eric Vigouroux had a flawless day, piloting his No. 324 Vanguard Hummer to a sixth place finish. When the stage concluded, he was only 13 minutes, 53 seconds behind. This moved Vigouroux to 14th overall, an impressive feat.  more…

2009 Dakar Rally ~ Suspense! Roma wins Stage 13

Today’s Rally has about killed me in anticipation for the Official results.

Still waiting…Amost Official…I think.

Maybe.

Robby is 11th…no…13th…no 14th…no 16th.

Hoping for a top 20 here and no change in the overall.

Eric Vigouroux still showing a 6th place stage finish and 11th overall. Good for him!

I do know that Mitsu’s Nani Roma has won the Stage 7’18″ ahead of Poland’s Krzysztof Holowczyc (Nissan), and 7’27 ahead of Frenchman Guerlain Chicherit (BMW).

That’s all I know for sure…I hate that!

Dakar Stage 12 ~ “Insane Danger” Video of Sainz Accident.

It was a lucky day that no one was killed.

2009 Dakar ~ 1 Rabbit Down, 2 to go! Robby Gordon 3rd in Stage~3rd Overall!

The Monster is on the hunt…and in tracker’s mode.  Carlos Sainz is officially out of the race. (Sorry…Yippity Skippity!) Really. I am sorry his navigator broke his shoulder when Sainz goofed up.**and yesterday Sainz thought he had it wrapped up…(sarcastic smirk on my face.)

“Carlos Sainz will not be the winner of the 2009 Dakar. On km 79 of today’s special stage, he drove his Race Touareg slap straight into a dried-out rio, and ended up on the roof three meters lower. Michel Périn got out of car 301 with a broken shoulder. The consultation of the doctor rushed to the scene put an end to the anxiety of the Spaniard who still thought he would be able to keep driving: this is where the race stops for him. ” Dakar.com…

Robby was 3rd in today’s stage and Sainz’s little mishap brings him into 3rd overall. Only a few days left…and Robby and Andy’s scope’s are awesome for the rest of the race.

I really hope that Michel Périn gets feeling better soon and am very glad no one was killed (literally).

I am off to take a look at the other Wabbit’s (VW’s) scope’s for the rest of the race.

2009 Dakar Stage 11 Cancelled

STAGE 11: COPIAPO – FIAMBALA

The day’s special stage has been cancelled. As the weather forcast announces heavy fog on the whole route of the stage and as the timing of the stage cannot be altered due to the crossing of the Andes and the crossing of the border between Chile and Argentina, the organizers have decided to cancel the portion of stage 11 between Copiapo and Fiambala that should have been against the clock. The participants will be getting to the Fiambala bivouac in liaison starting at 8:00 AM.

Dakar Biker Hurt in Stage 10

Today, Spanish rider nr 198, Cristobal GUERRERO (48), fell at km 160 of the 10th stage Copiapo-Copiapo. Alerted by the iritrack at 12:38PM, a medical chooper arrived on scene at 1:06PM. The man is in a coma and has been rushed to the Copiapo Hospital where a CT scan will be carried out.

Let’s all take the time to say a special prayer for him and all of his loved ones and team.

Due to the low volumes of sand, today’s loop at the Copiapo has been shortend by 200km. The route chages from the original route at CP#3 and will head west towards CP5 & 6and follow the initial route to arrival.

Robby actually placed third with a time of  2’16″ behind the real winner of the stage Carlos Sainz.  Miller placed 2nd with  Terranove behind him and DeVillers placing 5th.

 Gordon remains fifth overall, trailing Sainz by 1 hour, 34 minutes and 17 seconds.

2009 Dakar Rally ~ Stage 9 Update

 

Today’s stage 9 has proved to be quite a race. American Mark Miller (VW) has held on to the lead winning the stage with a time of 4 hours, 33’36″.

Behind him by 3’53″ was Spaniard King Carlos Sainz, with Argentina’s Orlando  Terranova coming in  at 10’40″ So far… 4th with a time of 12’51″ was our own heroic Monster Hummer team of Robby Gordon and Andy Grider! Running 5th was Russian Leonid Novitskie (BMW) at 13’38″.  Giniel De Villiers (VW) at 17’30″, slowly followed for 6 th position.

More updates on the day as soon as overall standings are official.

2009 Dakar Rally-Stage 9 Astro-Predictions~ Robby Gordon-Andy Grider

Stage 9: La Serena – Coppiapo

There are 536.42 km (333.3 miles) on the menu for the 9th stage, including a 448.9-km (278.9 miles) timed section, and this is when things get serious, with fast tracks, mountains, but also some imposing dunes to get through, as well as several off-track sections to be negotiated. It will be an opportunity for the most experienced to show off their navigational skills, but also how adept they are at handling their equipment, which could be capital before a double whammy of two very difficult stages.

Your ego energies are high, which means that you can stand up for yourself against almost anyone today. You have great confidence and will not easily allow someone to take advantage of you. Unfortunately this may also mean that you will get into fights and arguments. Try to remember that other people have egos too. You don’t have to defeat others in order to maintain yourself. 2009 Dakar Rally Stage 8 Results

Stage 8 ~Carlos Sainz arrived in 3 hrs, 47 minutes and 19 seconds. Perhaps Sainz thought he was putting on a clinic today!  American Mark Miller has crossed 4 minutes, 12 seconds behind Sainz. Roma followed by 3 seconds. 

I am anxious to hear Robby’s recounting of the day’s activities. We know he got into a push and shove with a rock in a dry rivier bed early in the stage. Did he get tangled up in Quad traffic also? Was there damage done to the Hummer in the rock push and shove. Only time will tell.

De Villers has now crossed at 10’48″ with Chicherit behind him at 11’32″.

2009 Update ~ Robby Gordon

The third to start this morning, Robby Gordon got stuck against a rock when crossing a dried river bed after 49 km of the day’s special stage. The American was able to resume after a few minutes, but Spaniard Nani Roma (Mitsubishi) was able to catch up and overtake him as a result.

Right now as it stands Carlos Sainz has crossed at KM 248. Robby was approx. 9’32″ at 180. Hopefully he has made up some time. Dieter Depping has been having a fantastic day, head to head with Sainz all morning.

Mark Miller gas passed up Depping at 248 with Roma right behind. 

This stage gas been remakably suspenseful, wiating for the Monster Hummer to show up as the Dakar Tracking ststem refreshes itself…the last to cross has been De Villiers at 7’59″. 

I am playing “Where in the World is Robby Gordon?” again. The next part of the stage is Arrival (finish) and that should go fast.

Chitcherit in the Beemer has now crossed 11’10″ behind the leader. Not looking good right now for the Hummer.

Robby just crossed 248 at 19’59″. Running 7th in the stage right now unofficially. Perhaps he can make up some time and move up a bit.

2009 Dakar Stage 8 Astro Predictions~ Robby Gordon and Andy Grider

After a good day’s rest Stage 8 begins in Valparaiso and runs north, up the west coast of Chile to La Serena. La Serena is the countries third oldest city, with history and spirituality abounding. Many of the church in the city are over 350 years old. 

 They will run from sea level up winding fast roads with altitudes of 1000ft above sea level.The course will be very fast, on pavement and gravel mostly.

Robby and Andy’s scope’s both show a wonder for spirituality and the unknown today. 

  No wonder…they are not far from    Easter Island, where mystery  and enormous energy abound.

2009 Dakar Stage 7 Summary &Rest Day in Valparaiso, Chile

Tomorrow is a well needed rest day. Stage 8, a very fast, winding route along the coast from Valparaiso to  La Serena take them up the racers up and along the western coast of Chile. They are in territory they will never forget.Valparaiso, which means Paradise Valley, will be a lovely, historical place for the rest.

Former Leader Nasser Al-Attiyah has retired from the Dakar Rally after missing a waypoint during the sixth stage .  I said the flies will be dropping soon and there are now 2 big flies out of the way. Stéphane Peterhansel  had a fire issue which ruined his chances of winning. Fly #2 Down.

RE Al-Attiyah: Sven Quandt, sporting director of BMW TEAM X-Raid, said: “We had a problem with the radiator. In spite of the work of the mechanics, the overheating engine was still too much of a problem at the entry to the (sand) dunes. Nasser had the choice between engaging in sand or going around. He chose the second solution but he missed several waypoints which, in accordance with the rules, means an automatic exclusion.”

Pending validation of the results by the race stewards, Spaniard Carlos Sainz (VW) has won the 7th stage, picking up his 3rd stage victory of this 31st Dakar, 3.41 ahead of his American team-mate Mark Miller (VW) and 4.13 in front of American Robby Gordon and his Hummer. As a result, in the general standings “El Matador” Sainz has taken the lead, 9 short seconds ahead of his South African team-mate Giniel De Villiers and 13.53 in front of the Race Touareg belonging to Miller, putting the 3 Volkswagens in the first 3 places! Worthy of note, the 9 times winner of the event Stéphane Peterhansel again suffered problems today. After a fire in the engine of his Mitsubishi Racing Lancer, the Frenchman has now lost all chance of grabbing a 10th victory on his 20th Dakar. In the Open category, Robby Gordon (Hummer) was again victorious and is the undisputed category leader in the general standings. Finally, in the Production category, Japanese driver Jun Mitsuhashi (Toyota) won the stage, but still only managed to claw back 10.20 on Frenchman Nicolas Gibon (Toyota) who retains a solid lead in the category in the general standings.

In the Bikes, Chilean Francisco Lopez (KTM) has won the 7th stage, picking up his 1st success on the Dakar, 3.57 ahead of the leader of the general standings, Spaniard Marc Coma (KTM) and 5.21 in front of France’s Cyril Despres (KTM). As a result, in the general standings Spaniard Marc Coma (KTM) carries on opening up a gap at the top of the rankings, with a 51.22 lead over American Jonah Street (KTM), still leader in the marathon category, and a 52.31 lead over Frenchman David Frétigné (Yamaha), leader of the 450cc category.

In the Quads, Argentine Marcos Patronelli (Can Am) has won the 7th stage, picking up his 1st success on the Dakar, 14.01 ahead of Uruguayan Luis Henderson (Suzuki) and 20.22 in front of Poland’s Rafal Sonik (Yamaha). As a result, in the general standings Czech rider Josef Machacek (Yamaha) is way out in the lead, 2:27.32 ahead of Patronelli and 2:38.27 in front of Polish rider Sonik.

2009 Dakar Stage 7~Update Robby Gordon~5th Overall

 

With a great day behind him Robby Gordon placed 3rd in today’s Stage 7,4 minites and 13 seconds behind the Veedubs, placing him 5th overall. 

Saintz (VW) took 1st with Miller (VW) behind him by 2″41. Roma (Mitsubishi) followed at 5″37 and De Villiers (VW) behind him at 7″48′.

Congrats to the Monster Hummer Team Dakar USA on a fine run.

2009 Dakar Stage 7 ~ Update

And the flies continue to drop. 

After a fire in the engine of his Mitsubishi after 57 km, Frenchman Stéphane Peterhansel reached the 91-km mark on the day’s special 10.40 behind the provisional leader, Spaniard Carlos Sainz. The title holder had to stop again after 80 km due to his engine overheating…Darn!!

As of right now Robby is having a pretty good day. He had second best time after 91km and still hanging up there in 5th at 139.

For those that wanted to know why I didn’t post scope’s yesterday…It’s because, I just didn’t.

2009 Dakar Rally Stage 6 Astro-Predictions~ Robby Gordon and Andy Grider

Today may seem depressing and restrictive. You may want to break out of your rut but find that you cannot, because some barrier is holding you back from going out and being yourself. Other people may seem to get in your way and interfere with what you are doing.

2009 Dakar Rally ~ Sad News ~ Pascal Terry found Dead.

It is with great sadness that the organization has been informed that rider Pascal Terry (192), 49 years old, has been found dead in the night of January 6th to 7th at 2:10 AM.

The biker was in a very hard-to-reach area in the middle of very dense bush-like vegetation 15m from his bike. He had taken his helmet off and had sought shade; he had food and water by him. 

The Las Pampas Province police and authorities will now carry out the necessary legal investigation in order to determine the causes of the biker’s death.

French motorcyclist Pascal Terry died of a lung edema which caused a respiratory and cardiac arrest according to an autopsy.

Terry was found dead early yesterday morning after going missing during the second stage of the Dakar Rally on Sunday.

The 49-year-old had informed race control his Yamaha had run out of petrol at the 197-kilometre mark between Santa Rosa and Puerto Madrid but later could not be contacted by organisers.

According to the official report, he showed no signs of bruising nor dehydration and had died sometime between Sunday night and early Monday morning, just a few hours after his disappearance.

“He had taken out his helmet, he had food and water with him and had no signs of bruises, nor his bike,” said local police spokesman Julio Acosta.

“We guess he got lost then he suffered some kind of health problem and he died waiting for the assistance.”

Despite the fact Terry had not been in contact with the organisers since Sunday afternoon, police said they were only informed about his disappearance on Monday night.

The reason for this delay is still unclear and is yet to be clarified by the race organisers.

Argentina newspaper Clarin reported on their website that there was a communication problem between the organisers.

“Apparently Terry turned on his emergency beacon on Sunday afternoon, and that information was received at the Paris headquarters but they didn’t inform the Argentina crew until Monday morning,” it claimed.

2009 Dakar Rally Stage 5 Update

 

Today was the best day so far in the raid as The Monster Hummer proved it’s power.  Robby Gordon and Navagator Andy Grider placed 3rd in Stage 5, which moves them up to 7th overall.

Team Dakar USA Stage 5 Update: Neuguen to San Rafael                  

 

San Rafael, Argentina (January 7, 2009) – Today’s 506-km special from Neuguen to San Rafael was one of the most difficult thus far in the Dakar Rally. The competitors were confronted with sand dunes, long off-road sections and very technical segments.  Luckily for Team Dakar USA, it was one of the most complex stages, allowing Robby Gordon’s driving abilities and Andy Grider’s navigational skills to shine. The duo ended today’s special in third place, only 4:12 minutes behind.   

Team Dakar USA started today’s stage with a renewed sense of optimism; they knew that Hummers would perform well on the hyper-technical route. Up to this point in the Rally, the stages have been had very fast sections, which is not ideal for the Hummers. In 2007, the A.S.O. changed a rule that affected the Team Dakar USA race vehicles, forcing the team to run a smaller restrictor and gear ratio. This ultimately took about 15 mph away from the race vehicle’s top speed. Therefore, the Hummers are better on the curvy, technical segments than on the fast straightaway sections.

“Today, the course was very challenging. The No. 309 Monster Energy Toyo Tires Hummer drove through the sand dunes with ease, and Andy did an excellent job of navigating us. Honestly, I think that this is where we made up the most time throughout the day. We were having a great run until we lost another power steering belt. The ratchet strap that secures the spare tire to the race vehicle came loose, causing the belt to fail. Without the belt, the race car cannot perform as it runs the alternator, water pump, and the power steering pump. We quickly replaced the belt and got back on the track. All in all, I am happy with today’s performance. We were able to close the gap on the new leader, Nasser Saleh Al Attiyah. We moved up to seventh overall and are just trailing by 41:48 minutes,” commented Gordon on today’s special. “In my opinion, the race has just started. There is more than enough opportunity to make up the 41 minutes.”

“Given the fact that this is Eric Vigouroux’ first time in one of the Hummers, he is doing a great job piloting the No. 324 Vanguard Hummer. If he had not encountered the problem with the power steering bracket, I would estimate that he would be in the top-20. It is just unfortunate that the part broke. He started today’s special from 62nd. He is still making his way to the finish, but he is currently 33rd. There is still time for him to make up the lost ground,” commented Gordon, owner of the No. 324 Hummer.

2009 Dakar Rally ~ Stage 5 Astro-Predictions_Robby Gordon and Andy Grider

The #309 Team Gordon/Grider in the Monster Hummer took 10 in Stage 4 today and are now standing in 9 place overall.

Here are the scope’s for tomorrows stage 5.

Robby and Andy both have some very opposing aspects for Stage 5 but they will also balance the positive and the negative, tho it may not be the smoothest day between Driver and Navigator.

This morning you are very sensitive emotionally, but the impressions you receive through your sensitivity may not be very accurate. You have vague feelings about the circumstances and people around you, and you may feel very confused, because you aren’t sure whether you are being realistic or unduly suspicious and fearful. 2009 Dakar Update

Unofficially, Dakar.com tracking shows Carlos Saintz (VW), Nasser Al-Attiyah (BMW), respectively, with 53 seconds between them at KM 419. Having not crossed 419 yet, at KM 368  Robby Gordon and Andy Grider were running 6 minutes and 19 seconds behind Saintz.

Things change so quickly so stay tuned!

STAGE 4 : JACOBACCI – NEUQUEN

488.48 km are on the program of stage 4 including 459.38 of timed route on the same type of terrain as yesterday. Patagonia and its pampa await the contenders for a new fast special stage that might also be treacherous with many potholes and boulders along the route too, without forgetting a few ’rio’ crossings as well – the equivalent of the African ’wadis’. The participants will still have to check the wear of their tyres in this new special stage that should – again – be a follow-up to the fascinating battle for the top raging between Volkswagen, Mitsubishi and a surprising BWM.

2009 Dakar Rally Stage 3 Update ~ Gordon 9th Overall!

Well, I must say this morning was a little difficult. Not for Robby necessarily, but for those of us trying to track him. Dakar.com had issues with the tracker today and we played “Where in the World is Robby Gordon?”  for hours. Robby seemed to have disappeared after KM 196.  

Was it a problem that needed a wrench? Was he lost? What had happened? Had he gone the way of his Team Mate?  

Eric Vigneroux  stopped just 2km after today’s special stage start. France’s Vigouroux, team mate of Robby Gordon, and driver of the Hummer 2, suffered an engine breakdown on his Vangaurd Hummer. Where were Robby and Andy?

Well, he was ON THE GAS of course!

 

 

Turns out there was a tracking problem at Dakar.com thank goodness.

Qatari Nasser Al-Attiyah (BMW)  followed by Spain’s Carlos Saintz (VW), Dieter Depping (VW), Giniel DeVilliers (VW), and France’s  Stephane Peterhansel (Mitsubishi) were the first five to finish the stage.

Robby Gordon took 10th in the stage and moved up a spot to 9th overall. 34 minutes behind!

2009 Dakar Rally ~ Stage 3 `Robby Gordon-Andy Grider Astro-Predictions

 

Dakar ~ Stage 3

Here are Robby and Andy’s scopes for tomorrow’s Stage 3 Puerto Madryn to Jacobacci.

This is going to be one of the toughest stages in the Rally. Rains have hit the area hard and some of the stagee and time had to be changed. The special program is a tough one, ranging over 600 km. It will be a sign that the competitors have reached the heart of the matter, even though big problems are still to come. The entry into Patagonia, which will be accompanied by a significant change in terrain, will need new piloting abilities. The landscape is much hillier, and those who prefer long curves will find what they’re looking for. Here, orientation is done using the lakes that border the route, around ten throughout the day, and numerous pink flamingoes will be the preferred guides for this stage. 

694.56 km are on the menu for the 3rd stage, but 550.74 km of these will be timed, making it the second longest special of the rally! The route includes quick tracks without great difficulties, but the competitors will have to be careful about the state of their tires, to avoid the pitfalls encountered in the first stage. They also need to be wary of the vegetation typical of the Pampa, which will be all over the route… This special should again witness a fine struggle between the car constructors in terms of pure speed.

2009 Dakar Rally Stage 2 Update ~ Robby Gordon wins Open Class Again-10th Overall

 

UPDATE from DAKAR.com :

Pending validation of the results, Spaniard Carlos Sainz (VW) won his 10th stage on the Dakar and his first of this 31st edition, 1.14 ahead of Frenchman Stéphane Peterhansel (Mitsubishi) and 1.56 in front of South African Giniel de Villiers (VW). Sainz also takes the lead in the general standings and now leads team-mate De Villiers by 2.19, with also a 3.51 lead over Peterhansel. In the Open category,Robby Gordon (Hummer) was triumphant, finishing 10th in the day’s special stage. Lastly, in the Production Category, Japan’s Jun Mitsuhashi (Toyota) was victorious.

Robby stands 10th Overall at this time.

Robby and Andy’s Scope’s for tomorrow’s Stage 3 will be up this afternoon.

Pending validation of the results, Qatari Nasser Al-Attiyah (BMW) won the first special stage, taking charge of the general standings, 2.17 ahead of Spain’s Carlos Sainz (VW) and 2.40 in front of South African Giniel de Villiers (VW). In the Open category, the stage victory went to Robby Gordon (Hummer), who finished 17th overall. Lastly, in the Production category, Italian Massimo Biasion (Mitsubishi) was triumphant.
