In 1947 there was a race held with the following top 10 driver’s winning these purses:

1. Jim Roper – $2000
2. Fonty Flock – $1000
3. Red Byron – $500
4. Sam Rice – $300
5. Tim Flock – $200
6. Archie Smith – $175
7. Sterling Long – $150
8. Slick Smith – $125
9. Curtis Turner – $100
10. Jimmy Thompson – $75

What race was it and where was it held?

    It was the very first NASCAR strictly stock Grand National Race held 6/19,1949 at Charlotte Speedway. It was a 200 lap race.
